JetBlue has announced that customers will soon be able to board their flights using selfies. Through a partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and SITA, facial recognition technology will be used to verify a passenger’s identity with their boarding pass. The customer will have his or her photo captured and then the image will synchronize with that person’s passport, visa or immigration documents. The new technology is being dubbed ‘self-boarding,‘ and is the first of its kind. Additionally, JetBlue employees will use iPad Minis to assist with the check-in process while engaging with customers. The ‘self-boarding‘ technology will roll out sometime in June, be sure to keep an eye out for it!
