American multinational media conglomerate Viacom (Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and MTV) is now officially entering the streaming market. Over the past few years, the structure of the TV and film industry has been greatly challenged since Netflix led the charge into streaming and original content. As consumers are finding less incentives to purchase cable packages, broadcasting corporations can no longer deny the inevitable future of the streaming. Viacom‘s CEO Robert Bakish attempted to downplay the move by saying, ‘We do not view this as a substitute product. We view this as a complement.’ Expected to launch in Fall 2018, Viacom‘s service will likely have a host of popular series from its various subsidiaries, including South Park, SpongeBob SquarePants, The State and more. Stay tuned for updates!
